LATEST NEWS

Image
Dear Parents/Members, Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well and had an amazing Christmas! I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on the latest news regarding the tier 4 lockdown period in Wales and what the plan is for the next few weeks.  Like probably most of you, I am still waiting on an announcement from the First Minister to know exactly where we are in terms of the tier 4 lockdown period and our return to training… From my understanding of it and what I have read so far, the original tier 4 lockdown was for a period of 3 weeks from the 28th of December. As we went into lockdown earlier, I think the government’s plan at this stage is to review the situation in the coming weeks and to decide if they can alleviate some of the restrictions in place.  I think that they now realize the importance of exercising and staying active for children, and with schools possibly being open in early January, I hope they will allow us to resume training as soon as possible. What does ...

⚠️NATIONAL LOCKDOWN UPDATE⚠️ Hi everyone, Given the most recent announcement from the Welsh Government, we will have to stop all training sessions for a two week period starting from this Friday 23rd October, 6pm.  (Friday’s class in Porthcawl is on as normal) All classes will be re-starting from Monday 9th November but please remember that there will be a few changes: ✅ We are going back to two sessions a week in Cowbridge, Mondays and Fridays (please remember to update your monthly fees from the 1st of November)  Link:  http://www.neilgimbeltkd.com/2020/10/cowbridge-friday-class.html ✅ We are changing to a Thursday class in Porthcawl. Don’t forget that we have tons of online resources on the website including instructional videos, patterns videos, fitness workouts and boxing routines! These should keep you busy and I will see you back in two weeks to put everything into practice! Everyone has done an amazing job since we have started back in September and I also w...

COWBRIDGE FRIDAY CLASS

Image
⚠️TO ALL COWBRIDGE STUDENTS⚠️ Dear Parents/Students, I have finally managed to book a venue for a second weekly class! Our second training day in Cowbridge will now be on every Friday and will take place at the Ystradowen Village Hall .  The new Friday class will start from Friday 13th of November. It is impossible at this stage to find a good venue on a Thursday so I have no choice but to move your second class to a Friday for now. The good news is that we can have the exact same training times as on a Monday so we will not be finishing too late. The Ystradowen Village Hall is a great venue for our classes and I am happy to finally be able to have a second long term booking. The fact that we are able to keep the same training times as on Mondays, was also a big factor in going back to this venue. As we are going back to twice a week training, I will please ask you to:  - Reinstate your monthly standing order to the original amount of £33/month . - Family discount applies once...

ALL STUDENTS RETURN TO CLASS PROTOCOL

Image
COVID 19 RETURN TO CLASS PROTOCOL: No training if feeling unwell or other members of the household displaying symptoms for Covid 19! Please follow the latest  Government guidelines   for more information.   (This goes without saying, but I will be very strict on this one and will not allow students to train if they are showing signs of illness).  Do not attend training if your class or school year has been asked to isolate due to Covid cases in school. Members have to make sure their licence is up to date (I will have licence forms with me at every session and will contact students who need renewal). Classes will have social distance rules in place (following the latest Welsh Government guidelines, children under the age of 11 do not have to social distance anymore but I will keep the 2 metres rule on for now). Class size has been reduced to 20 students maximum for now so we have an updated timetable. Class length has been shortened so we can fit in more sessions and...

COWBRIDGE UPDATE AND MONTHLY FEES

Image
Hi everyone,   I am happy to announce that we will be back training at the Cowbridge leisure centre from Monday 5th of October, and that we have earlier sessions for everyone. I have a new timetable in place to once again accommodate for more classes as we are only allowed very limited numbers.  Unfortunately we can only have a Monday for now, the Thursday booking is not available at the moment.  I am still actively looking for a venue for Thursday training but it has been very difficult in these uncertain times, I will let you all know as soon as I have something.  As we can only train once week in Cowbridge for now, your monthly fees have been recalculated:  All students will now be on £20/month from the 1st of October 2020. Please update your monthly standing order from that date   The family discount can only be applied to families of 3 or more for now, please contact me for your updated fees if not sure. (the normal family discount will restart for ev...

WE ARE BACK!

Image
Hi everyone, Just a quick reminder that our classes are starting back next week! Monday classes in Ystradowen and Tuesday and Friday classes at the Y centre in Porthcawl. Please make sure you have read our return to class protocol for each club and know which class your child is attending: www.neilgimbeltkd.com I want to make our return to training as simple and smooth as possible and will need everybody’s help, please follow our new rules. All you have to do is bring your child to class with their uniforms and belt on, ready to train 😊 No need for sparring kits for now so the only other thing students need is a drink for the session. Shoes will be kept on for class so as soon as a group is finished, parents can pick their children up and leave the venue before the next group comes in. Please be aware that no one is allowed to stay inside our venues while your children are training. I will also ask everybody to follow a 2 metres social distancing rule while waiting before and after cl...

QUICK UPDATE

Image
Hi everyone, A quick update on re starting our classes. I am still waiting for more information and guidelines from the Welsh Government and our governing body regarding indoor group training. As far as I know, gyms are able to reopen from the 10th of August and sport clubs should also be able to resume training indoors from that date as long as venues are open and allow us back. Please be aware that for our first few sessions back, I am planning on having shorter classes with limited numbers to allow for everyone to get used to the new rules. My priority is to make sure everyone gets back to training in the safest way possible. ✅ I have been in contact with the Porthcawl Y Centre and they are happy for us to start back next week. I am organising a new updated timetable and preparing a risk assessment to make sure we have everything in place to start back safely. A return to class protocol will also be out before the end of the week to ensure we’re all following guidelines and...

BREAKING NEWS!

Image
BREAKING NEWS! Hi everyone, Great news this morning, gyms in Wales are expected to reopen from Monday 10th of August so we should be able to start back training indoors from that date! I am away for the last 2 weeks of august as I haven’t seen my family since the start of lock down so the timing is not the best... We should be able to squeeze in a week of real training though, before we can start back properly from September. It is also the summer school holidays so a few families will be away making our sessions a lot quieter. I will update everyone next week with more information regarding a possible updated timetable in place with restricted numbers following government guidelines. I will also have to look at licences to make sure every student is up to date and insured for when we start back. Can I take this opportunity once again to say a massive thank you to all of you who have supported me and our clubs during this Lock down, It really means a lot. ...

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ - MONTHLY FEES

Image
⚠️IMPORTANT PLEASE READ⚠️ First, I would just like to thank you all for your continued support during this very difficult time! Our clubs remain very much alive online and I am looking forward to create more content for our students in the coming weeks. At the moment we are not able to receive any form of Government funding despite having to close our Taekwondo schools through the COVID 19 pandemic. I have been working very hard to get our business online and I would like to thank all my students for their commitment and dedication to their training. I cannot wait to re-open our classes but in the mean time I will continue to create online content for you. I do understand that paying full fees for online content is difficult for some of you though, even more so in this situation. I have decided to offer all of my students an alternative and reduce everyone’s monthly fee to £10/month per FAMILY from the 1st May 2020. This payment will be a membership retainer fee which also c...

**IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE, PLEASE READ**

Image
**IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE, PLEASE READ** Dear Parents/Students, I have made the decision to close our Taekwondo schools for 2 weeks from Monday 23rd of March until Sunday 5th of April 2020. It is always difficult to cancel sessions but the safety of our students and families comes first and I believe that this is the right thing to do in this situation. All classes are running as normal this week and the colour belt grading on Friday is still on at this stage. After today’s news, unfortunately things might change. In the event of the grading being cancelled, your grading fees will be saved to cover the next grading whenever possible. We are organising time slots for different groups at the grading to reduce mass gathering with parents and to avoid having too many students on at the same time. (More information and exact times will be released in the next few days). The results of the grading will be posted on our Facebook page and website, belts and certificates wi...
