Great day at the Welsh Area Championships today and a massive well done to everyone who competed. We took our biggest competition team to date to the tournament and I could not be happier with the way everyone performed! It was amazing to see some students compete for the first time and witness how much the higher grades have improved this year! I am so proud of you all! Also a massive thank you to all the parents for your support, staying together and following all the competitors to different areas throughout the day. You were brilliant with all the kids and your help is very much appreciated! Very happy and proud to present Ben Sutton with his Taekwondo 1st Degree tonight! It's great to welcome him to the Black Belt ranks after successfully taking part in the Black Belt grading last weekend.  The National Black Belt grading took place on Sunday the 16th of October 2016 at the T.A.G.B. Headquarters in Bristol and was led by a grading panel of World Masters and Senior Instructors of the T.A.G.B. All students were asked to demonstrate their theory of Taekwondo, technical skills, as well as their pattern knowledge, application of self-defense and sparring abilities.  Ben represented his school and Instructor in the best way possible and has now become a role model and inspiration for his training partners by reaching the rank of Black Belt! Ben started training with me in 2009 and is only the 9th student to achieve the level of Black Belt in our Cowbridge Taekwondo school. I am once again a very proud Instructor! Massive congratulations to 14 years old Ben Arnesen from Cowbridge on placing third at the recent Taekwondo International World Open Championships!  The tournament took place on the 16th and 17th of July 2016 at the Birmingham Barclaycard Arena with upwards of 3,000 competitors coming from all over the World to test their skills and battle it out in the different aspects of Taekwondo.  The competition was a huge success and ran perfectly over the 2 days to accommodate the thousands of competitors taking part in events such as traditional and musical patterns, point stop and continuous sparring, destruction and International Teams sparring event.  Ben took a hard fought Bronze medal in the junior red belt heavyweight sparring division after 4 gruelling fights, only narrowly missing out on a place in the finals. Great day at the Welsh Open Championships in Cardiff today! Congratulations to our team of students taking part and everyone else who competed. Very proud of your efforts as always and it's good to see you all improve every time! Special mention goes to Ben Arnesen for getting Bronze in his category, Ben Sutton for moving up to the heavyweight division and also getting a Bronze and Harry Bolt for winning Gold in his second competition to date! I am very pleased to announce that Will has achieved the rank of Taekwondo 1st Degree Black Belt after recently taking part in what proved to be a very busy and demanding Black Belt grading! University of Wales Institute Cardiff Cyncoed Campus Cyncoed Road Cardiff CF23 6XD 9.00am Start. All competitors may only wear standard white T.A.G.B. doboks, the most recent national doboks or T.A.G.B. Tiger Dobok.
